Covenant Eyes disagrees by design. Victory blocks explicit domains, supports custom block and allow lists across browsers and apps, and runs screen accountability on top. You get the wall and the witness.

So the question is not which one has more features. It is whether you think the thing standing between you and pornography at 1am should be a closed door or a person who will find out.

What Accountable2You actually watches

If you pick the witness model, it is worth knowing how much this particular witness sees. Accountable2You monitors websites, apps, and search terms, including incognito and private browsing. It records screen time and app usage, flags device use outside curfews you set, and reports uninstall, tampering, or disabling attempts. On Android, an enhanced version also covers text and call activity.

Partners get real-time visibility through their own account, instant alerts on questionable activity, hourly email alerts, and daily or weekly summaries they can configure. Reports are colour-coded green, yellow, and red so a partner can scan rather than read.

Two details matter more than they first appear.

Per-device partners. Its plans let you set different partners for different devices. Your work laptop can report to one person and your phone to another. Nothing else in this category offers that.

Retention is short. Real-time activity is stored for 15 days, with an export option. That is a deliberate privacy choice, and it also means a partner who checks in monthly will have missed most of the detail.

What Covenant Eyes actually does

Covenant Eyes leads with Victory. Its accountability layer runs through the Victory Shield app, which captures screen activity and sends it to a nominated ally. Those images are blurred, distorted, and encrypted with AES 256-bit security, then deleted after 30 days. The company frames the approach as "freedom through transparency."

The blocking side is a first-class feature rather than an afterthought: Victory blocks explicit domains and supports custom block and allow lists across browsers and apps. On iOS it reviews, reports, and blocks explicit domain activity across apps, and Covenant Eyes' own documentation notes that full protection on that platform means running Victory alongside the operating system's built-in restriction settings rather than instead of them.

Coverage has edges worth checking before you buy. Screen Accountability is not available on Chromebooks, Kindle Fires, or Smart TVs, and platform minimums are relatively recent — iOS 15.1, macOS 11, Android 11, Windows 10 or newer.

Price, honestly

For one person, Accountable2You is meaningfully cheaper: $121 against $198, and you can try it for 10 days before paying anything.

For a household the gap nearly closes. Accountable2You Family is $176 for 20 installs; Covenant Eyes is $198 for unlimited devices across up to 10 users. Which is better value depends on how you count. Accountable2You charges per install, so one person with four devices consumes four of their six personal slots. Covenant Eyes charges per person, so that same user's four devices count once.

Accountable2You fits better if you believe blocking is the wrong mechanism, you want the most thorough monitoring available including incognito and search terms, you need Linux or Chromebook coverage, you want different partners for different devices, or you want to try before paying.

Covenant Eyes fits better if you want blocking and accountability from one product, you are covering several people rather than several devices, you want your ally to see the screen rather than a list of domains, or you have concluded that a domain report is too easy to work around.

The option neither product offers

There is a reader this page has not served yet, and it is worth naming.

Accountable2You will not block. Covenant Eyes will block, but only alongside sending pictures of your screen to another person. Neither product gives you a closed door without a witness.

For some people that combination is the problem. They want the 1am route closed, and they are not ready to tell anyone. They may have no one they trust with this yet, or they tried an accountability partner and found it brought more shame than support.
